- Allenbrook Sweet Basil Registered Dartmoor Gelding, 12.2hh, 12 years old (2013) Sire : Springwater Happy Day Dam : Allenbrook Staranise Basil is a versatile pony with three exceptional paces and a beautiful, active movement. He is currently not at full fitness but this won’t take long to build back up, his price reflects this. He is an excellent all-round pony, enjoying dressage and show jumping competitions; he has also attended hound exercises. Basil has a lovely, scopey jump and is happy to take a younger jockey around a small course. He has competed up to 70cm with scope to go bigger. I feel Basil is more of a 2nd pony for a confident/willing child wanting the next step up from their FYFR. This is more due to him occasionally needing his rider’s confidence. He hacks alone or in company, leading or following, and is excellent in all traffic. Safe in open spaces, he’s never strong or silly. He’s a dream to handle on the ground and is up to date with the farrier (shod in front) dentist, physio, and vaccinations. This is an incredibly heartbreaking ⛵️ for his current owner, solely due to the jockey not being quite ready for the next step. Viewings and vettings are welcome here at Olivia Holmes Equestrian.
