- I am selling my beautiful 9-year-old Anglo Arab mare, Aphilia. I've owned her for 3.5 years, and in that time, I've poured my heart into her care and well-being. However, with a young son whom I home educate, I've come to realise that I can't give Aphilia the time and attention she deserves right now. Aphilia is hacking fit and will happy go out from 1-2 hours at this present moment. About Aphilia: Health & Treatments: Aphilia has had both hocks and neck medicated for mild arthritic changes. She has received Indiba treatments on her hocks and SI and regular manual treatments. Recently, she's been working with Hollie from Marilla Vet Physio to address muscle imbalances and discomfort. There's at least 2-4 months of groundwork OR hacking work before she can progress to schooling. She wears pads on her hinds due to a hoof imbalance shown in X-rays. Experience: Aphilia has some cross-country schooling experience, though she's still green in this area. She's show-jumped in clinics and genuinely loves it. She has beautiful movements when she's feeling good. She's safe to hack alone or in company but requires a confident rider, as she can be joggy and sensitive to a nervous handler. However, she does relax and enjoys hacking on a loose rein. Temperament: As a typical Anglo Arab, Aphilia is spirited and can be sassy. She's not suitable for novice riders and needs someone who is both confident and fair. She's incredibly loyal and will form a strong bond with her rider. Aphilia will communicate if she's uncomfortable, not out of spite, but because she's trying to express her needs. You need to be able to listen to this mare to work together. Lifestyle & Care: Aphilia thrives living out as much as possible, which helps her self-regulate. She's easy to handle for the farrier, physio, and dentist and is generally well-mannered. She can be sticky to load into a trailer but responds well to a gentle nudge with a lunge line behind the bum. Vetting: Aphilia passed a 5-stage vetting with Walnut Hill when I purchased her, and she was seen again in May 2024, where she was thoroughly examined and was deemed capable of passing a 5-stage vetting. The Right Home: Aphilia deserves a home where her needs will be understood, and her care will be a priority. I am looking for someone who can invest the time into her ongoing care and training. Home is more important to me than anything else. If you're willing to continue the work we've started and understand that she needs some time before returning to extensive ridden work, Aphilia could be a wonderful addition to your life.
