- For Sale: Blondie – 15.2hh Irish Chestnut Mare with Flaxen Mane & Tail (11 years old)
Very honest sale…
It is with a heavy heart that I have to offer my beloved mare, Blondie, for sale. This decision is due to unforeseen personal circumstances and absolutely no fault of her own. Blondie is truly a one-in-a-million horse, and I would love to see her go to a forever home where she is cherished and loved the way she deserves. Perfect mother horse to keep up with kids on ponies activities or a mother daughter share.
About Blondie:
Age: 11 years old
Height: 15.2hh
Breed: Irish
Colour: Chestnut with a stunning flaxen mane and tail (she’s your ultimate “Barbie pony”)
Temperament: The sweetest, most affectionate mare you’ll ever meet, loves attention, and a good scratch. She’s a true “gelding mare” – the most laid-back mare you’ll come across!
Good Points:
Hacking: Excellent to hack alone or in company. She’s a calm, reliable companion and always takes breaks while cantering with friends. She has a natural ‘nanny’ instinct and is wonderful around others.
Handling: Easy to bring in and out of the field. Good to clip and load (though she likes a bit of space when travelling, as she enjoys doing the splits for comfort!).
Farrier: While a little nervous, she’s mostly fine and just gets a little tense. A patient farrier will be perfect, and a quick lick and haynet to calm her is all she needs.
Competitions: Always in the ribbons in dressage, and has a jump to die for! She’s more than capable of competing in dressage, showjumping, and even cross-country (as long as the ground allows).
Living Arrangements: She’s very versatile – can live out 24/7 or be stabled overnight. Not fussy, though she does tend to be a bit messy in the stable.
Health & Care:
Blondie has had a bit of bad luck in the past, but with proper management, she’s been doing very well:
Past Injury: At age 6, she had stem cell treatment for navicular bruising, a small side bone, and minor ligament damage. Since then, she’s had no problems with her feet, as long as she’s not trotting on hard ground or roads. She may not be ideal for someone looking to event but is great for dressage, jumping, and light cross-country if the ground allows.
Back: She has a sensitive back due to being jumped too much too young before I got her, so she requires a well-fitting saddle and regular physio care to keep her in top form.
Current Situation:
Blondie hasn’t been in full work for the past 6 months due to her previous loaner lacking time. As a result, she is a little fresher and stronger than usual, especially out hacking. She’s a bit cheeky to catch, but this is just due to the lack of a consistent routine. With a solid plan, she’ll quickly return to her usual self.
Unfortunately, due to my physical health condition, I am unable to restore her to her usual training and routine before selling. However, she is still a fantastic horse with lots of potential for the right person.
Included in Sale:
Blondie will be sold with all of her tack and rugs (she has a collection that could sink a ship!). Everything she needs for a new home will be provided.
Why am I selling her?
This is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. My physical health has made it impossible for me to give Blondie the attention she needs, and I want her to go to someone who can give her the time, love, and care she deserves.
If you think you could offer Blondie the right home, please call or text me on 07902 833011. I apologize in advance if I take a little longer to reply – this is a very emotional time for me.
Thank you for reading, and I hope Blondie finds the perfect new owner soon.
