- Westy Approx 16hh 5yo chunky bay gelding. Short coupled, well put together TB. Westy is a charming character ready to go and be someone’s best friend. Easy to bring in/turn out, load, travel, shoe etc, doesn’t go crazy when left alone and happy to be turned out with anything. He is like a big puppy, will follow you around the field for any form of attention! He gets fat on thin air and is generally no trouble to have around. Has been in training but never ran as didn’t show enough promise. He is injury and vice free and had a few months downtime in the field before beginning his retraining with me. He was good as gold to bring back into work after his holiday, not the type to go loopy without constant exercise. Westy moves well and has a very trainable attitude in the school beginning to work in a nice shape in all 3 paces. He is honest to a fence, he has a lovely pop on him, doesn’t rush and is very careful with his legs - though he is still very much a baby so don’t expect him to be perfect! Westy will hack alone with a confident rider as can be quite green and spooky, never nasty just likes to have a good look at the monsters in the drains and gateways and needs to be reminded to focus and go forward. In company he is better. Has seen all traffic and is unbothered. Lastly Westy has aural plaques (white calcifications in his ears) this means he’s not a huge fan of his ears being messed with. He’s happy for you to touch all around his ears and head but having his ears squished or poked is not comfortable for him. Feel free to research the condition for more info.
