- Hello Everyone, I'm Harry. I am a black traditional cob, 9 yrs old and stand at approximately 13.2hh.
I have been in my current home since arriving with my mother when I was just a few months old. I was backed as a 4yr old in 2020 and since then I have lead a very varied life.
I can jump 70cm courses with ease, I enjoy cross country and am not phased by anything (I'm very clever and laid back, most of the time :-)) I jump ditches, drops and go through water no problem. I am pretty good at low level dressage, often achieving over 70% in prelim and novice unaffiliated tests. I have played mounted games for a season and done a bit of polocrosse training. I'll never be a professional but my mum says that she has fun just having a go on me.
I have done beach and park rides and can be ridden alone or in company. I'm very good at opening gates, mum has a video of me doing this when we recently had a go at Working Equitation. My mum was really pleased with me, (as she should be, I am a star!!) as I have had my winter break and haven't done any schooling for around 4 months. I'm very good at being dragged out of the field, without warning and heading off to do something.
I am a little bit nervous when I see big traffic as I once had quite a fright, but if I have a friend with me I am far more brave. Mum rides me all over on her own, but she is a very confident rider and manages the traffic when needed.
I am used to being ridden from the seat with leg, mum doesn't take a strong hold in the reins and I really like this. If I ever feel a little bit scared, which I can do, she just gives me a scratch on the neck, wraps her leg around me and, really, I guess holds my hand. This gives me the confidence to keep putting one foot in front of the other. That said, I have also carried much younger riders and taken them on hacks and round show jumps and helped to boost their confidence. I do have moments when I can get a little excited and have a bit of a buck. This is usually when we first get to the beach or if I know that we are in an open field and we are going to have a canter. I do quickly settle though, so long as my rider doesn't get excited and scared all at the same time too!
I will be gutted to leave and she says that she will be gutted to see me go but she says that there is someone out there who will benefit greatly from owning and riding me and so I must find my next partner in crime.
Mum would prefer that you give her a call if you think that I might be the next pony for you.
