Grace is a rising 7yo (2018) Irish Sport Horse mare by WRS Elvis out of a Garrison Royal mare standing approximately 16.2hh
She has been owned by her current owner since a rising 4yo and over the past few years has primarily hunted and hacked.
Grace has done most of her hunting across Exmoor with a mature lady and crossed a variety of terrain, through water, down big drops etc with no problems at all. She has also hunted with us and always an absolute pleasure to be on all day, stands perfectly at the meet, doesn’t mind the hounds running around her legs etc and received many lovely comments. We hunted her in a snaffle with no issues however her owner does hunt her in a gag.
She hacks alone or in company, will go first or last and has nannied some young horses whilst she’s been with us on her hacking days. She can have a spook at a silly thing like a leaf but has been good in all the traffic we’ve met with her including farm machinery.
Grace hasn’t done much schooling in her current home as it is primarily hunting/hacking however she has improved quickly in this area with us.
Although she has relatively limited jumping experience it seems to be something she enjoys and she improved with every jump when we took her to Pontispool XC schooling. This is an area that with further work I think someone could have a lot of fun on her with.
Although she is a relatively straightforward horse to ride she wouldn’t be suitable for a nervous and/or novice rider as she is still green with her school work and feel that she would be one to take advantage if someone wasn’t confident and start napping. This isn’t a behaviour she has displayed out hunting with us as this is what she knows. She can pull some faces in the stable mainly at feed time but nothing more than this and we’ve still been fine to do rugs etc whilst she’s eating.
She is easy to deal with around the yard and is good for the farrier, vet, dentist, physio, load, travel and catch and has no vices.
We think she would really excel in a hunting home as this is where her current experience lies but think she is also very smart for someone to put the work in to her and enjoy other disciplines with her.
The owner is asking £11,000 for her and may consider a sensible offer to help find her the right home that will help her reach her full potential. We are based near Cullompton (10mins from J27 of the M5).
