On behalf of client:
Approx 16.2hh, dapple grey ID 5yo mare.
Leisure/hacking/hunting/broodmare (with the potential for more with further production).
Tilly is a classy project horse for someone looking to put in their time rather than money into a quality horse.
Due to her size and low-mileage she is proving unbalanced on a tight turn, we have experienced a subtle asymmetry on circles in the school which could limit her future as a competition horse. Please note: she has had a lameness work up and Osteopathic assessment to address her suitability as competition horse, both parties' findings were insignificant and suggested she just needs time to mature into her body with straight line & hill work. Tilly is sound on all flexion tests and in a straight line, but at this point only time will tell whether she will be up to a higher calibre role in the future. She is open to vetting. Despite this Tilly loves her hacking so she would suit a leisure/hacking/hunting home as she is currently. She would also make an excellent broodmare with class 1 lineage including Killcrenmon Gold and Pennmerryls Rhythm and Blues lines.
Tilly is everything that you'd expect from an Irish Draught. She boasts 9" of bone, a broad chest and shoulders, a deep girth and a leg on each corner. She really is an exquisite stamp of the breed. She has a real presence about her with a fine, pretty face and loveable nature.
Tilly has undergone extensive groundwork and she is a dream to work in-hand. She is established working laterally from the ground, she is polite and receptive to her handler.
Tilly thrives off attention, she has a very trainable attitude and really wants to learn.
She is acquainted with poles and small fences and could be further produced to jump once full physical maturity has been reached.
Due to a slump in the market we are offering Tilly as more of a blank canvas rather than 'the final product' - purely due to a higher demand for project horses in the current economic climate.
Tilly has a very low mileage for a 5yo, she was broken and produced very lightly before being purchased by her current owners (May 2023) who have spent the majority of their time getting to know her from the ground due to a combination of lack of time and experience with young horses hence the reason for looking for a new home for her (no fault of Tilly's).
She is excellent to mount and safe and reliable to hack in company, she will hack alone with a confident rider that will push her through any hesitations leaving home. She is excellent in traffic. Tilly has been out on hound exercise once in the 23/24 season and proved level-headed , she will be taken out with the hounds on 10th Nov to further prove her reliability as a hunter.
Tilly is good to do on the ground, she leads well with other horses and has settled within a mixed herd but she will also turn out by herself (with others nearby). She is good to bath, groom, clip, load, catch, for vet/dentist/farrier (currently barefoot with very good feet).
A good home is a must for this much loved girl.
